Capella Photonics Appoints Industry Insider Conrad Burke to Its Board of Directors

Pioneer of Wavelength Selective Switch Modules Further Enhances Strength and Depth of Its Board

San Jose, California - Apr. 13, 2005 - Capella Photonics, Inc., a leader in wavelength selective switch (WSS) modules for use in reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) and optical cross connect (OXC) applications, announced today the appointment of Conrad Burke to its Board of Directors. Conrad brings to the board over 15 years of proven expertise guiding innovative optical component and subsystem technologies into the commercial market.

Conrad Burke, most recently Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Bookham Inc., began his career in communications in 1989 as a research engineer at NEC Corporations' Central Research Laboratories in Japan. In 1992 he joined AT&T where his responsibilities included management positions in engineering, marketing and product management and spanned North America, Europe and Asia.

In 1999, Burke assumed management responsibilities for Lucent Technologies' integrated network modules business. In early 2000 Burke joined OMM, an early stage startup company developing optical switching subsystems, as Senior Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Business Development.

In early 2003, Burke became a Venture Partner at Sevin Rosen Funds, a leading US-based venture capital firm.

Burke has a MS in Physics from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and a BS in Physics from University College, Dublin, Ireland.
